What if, right now, the Lord is looking for shepherds after His own heart, destined to guide and lead with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15)? What if that individual is you?
If you are a parent, you are a shepherd. If you are a spiritual leader in your home, you are a shepherd. If you tend to anyone, you are a shepherd. Shepherding is very important to God’s heart. In fact, there are at least 43 verses where shepherding is mentioned. We’ll go through all of them. By the way, King David began as a shepherd. And Isaiah 55:4 says God “…made him a witness to the peoples…” We will read about and study his life, and glean from his living testimony what it looks like to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength.
As we move through David’s life and see how he maintained his identity in Christ as shepherd, the king’s sidekick, a fearful one hiding in a cave, one receiving a portion of God’s promise, and one receiving the promise entirely, we’ll identify areas in our lives where there are promises from God. Promises in our marriages or a relationship not yet on the radar, promises in our children’s lives, our churches, communities, and so on. If we love the Lord and have spent time with Him, we may have a clear idea of what these promises are. If not, we may discover we just need to spend time with God in order to learn what He has in store for us. We will go through all of this.
An outline for the study can be downloaded HERE. Please know, I am only a gal sensing God needs me to go on this journey, and I’m extending the invitation for others to join me. I am not a theologian. I did not go to seminary. I am not ordained. I only have a heart for God, His Word, His will, His people and for everyone He is calling. I may not get some things right, but I am open to correction. I may not tie verses together in a particular way, please point that out to me. I never want to alter the Lord’s Word in a way that would hinder His love and Spirit being made manifest in our lives.
The study will begin Monday, December 1st. I will post the Scripture for the week and we will go from there. This is an exploratory study, meaning, we are all exploring the idea together, in an effort to see where God takes us. See you Monday!
One last note, if you don’t believe. You’re welcome to join as well. God is fully aware you may have had shepherds in your life who did not look after you in ways He needed them to. He is full aware the distance you have gone to flee from the pain. He may be calling you back in the days and weeks to come, so He Himself can be the Shepherd you always knew you needed, but never had. Please join us.
