Goodness sake, God has been pouring into my heart, this idea of a Shepherdess rising up! The idea began stirring in the past month's Bible study in the book of John. It began with seeing myself as a wanderer because of shepherds in my life who dropped the staff. From there I accepted I have my own flock with my children. The journey then took a turn to the notion that as the spiritual leader in my home my husband is temporarily part of my flock. I began asking if I was doing everything I knew to do to help feed, give drink, cover, remove illness, accept and tend the wounds of my flock.
The Good Shepherd sent ME on a journey of discovering what tending to my husband looks like, what tending to my children looks like and what tending others looks like. He pointed me to King David, who began as a shepherd and who held the ultimate shepherd position by leading the people of God. With David's life, He opened up to me the seasons and places we may find ourselves as we shepherd. Places where we may feel under appreciated and rejected in the menial, or where we may have some sense of adoration from those around us, or where we may be living in extreme hardship coupled with fear, or where we may have only a portion of what we believe God has promised, or where we are living in the promise. This devotion series will focus on first loving the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength. It will focus on finding our identity in Christ alone. It will focus on learning to rely on the Holy Spirt, in ALL things. When we grow in these areas, we tend our flocks as Jesus would, and our flock learns to rise up and stand for the Lord in their own time, their own way. It is time we rise up, so those around us are able to do the same.
