Matthew 26
Good morning!! So many verses stood out this morning, but particularly verses 7 - 13, those depicting the woman with the alabaster jar... ...a woman came to Him, having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and poured it on His head as He is reclining. (BLB) Different versions say perfume, others say ointment, still others say fragrant oil. As I thought of the fragrant oil, this expensive concoction this woman had, I was reminded of the women we read about Friday, at the beginning of chapter 25. Five had oil for their lamps, five did not. When it came time for the bridegroom in the parable to return, the five without (although they'd left to buy some) were left unknown by the groom. I was also reminded of David, in 1 Samuel 16:13 Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David from that day on. Lord, You know the connections You are trying to draw for us, please make them clear. The prayer on my heart is for You to anoint us and fill us with Your Spirit and power. May we not allow our lamps to become empty or our flame to die out too soon, at any moment - preserve us and always have us prepared. Not only full, powerful and prepared, but willing to pour out that which You provide, which is worth so much because You died for us to live a life led by You. Help us to pour out all You supply us with, trusting You will never leave us emptied. Thank You Jesus, amen.
