Matthew 23
Verse twelve states: But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Humble, in the dictionary, means a. having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance b. of low social, administrative, or political rank. Exalted means a. (of a person or their rank or status) placed at a high or powerful level; held in high regard b. in a state of extreme happiness. Lord, this morning one may feel Your frustration with the Pharisees, reading this chapter. Compel us to be humbled, or not hold oursleves to a higher regard than our brothers and sisters. Keep in the forefront of our minds the more important aspects of extending justice, mercy and faith to those around us. Help us to be transformed from the INSIDE (our thoughts, feelings and character) rather than making it appear we have all thise things in order on the OUTSIDE. Help us to genuinely and authentically live from a place of confident humility, and live in a place where You alone are high and lifted up, the source of our joy and happiness.
