Dear Lord, it seem as though the beginning of the prayer needs to begin with the end of the chapter. Like the blind men in verse 33, we want to see!! I pray You open our eyes, minds and hearts to today's Scripture...
But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world Lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave[*]. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” NLT
*Slave (according to Strong's concordance) ~ devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests.
Thank You for giving Your life for so many! Thank You for Your Word. Lord, move us to the point in our relationship with You and others, where we can JOYFULLY disregard our own interests, to pursue Yours. This seems to be synonymous with carrying our cross and not giving into the flesh - both of which You call us to do. Help us to be led by Your Spirit in having a servant's heart. Soften the places that may be hardened and sweeten the places that may be bitter. Open the eyes of our hearts Lord, so we can see where You are calling us to serve rather than be served, today, right where we are. Thank You Jesus, amen.
