Luke 4

Picture
Luke 4
  • Jesus was FULL of the Holy Spirit and led to the wilderness. This seems to be a pattern. Moses was led to the wilderness. The people of Israel were led to the wilderness. David had to flee and live in the wilderness. Now Jesus is doing the same
  • In the wilderness, Jesus was tempted by the enemy with food to satisfy His hunger, authority and power, and an opportunity to test God’s faithfulness.
  • All three times Jesus replied with an understanding of Scripture, a resolve to not be moved by His circumstances, and a certainty God was providing through the presence of His Holy Spirit.
  • The Power of the Spirit brings:
    • Freedom to the captives
    • Sight to the blind
    • Deliverance to the oppressed
  • Jesus states, “No prophet is accepted in their hometown”.
  • Demons, fever, and illness left at the presence of the Lord.

♥ Questions to Ask
  • Is there a pattern to solidifying the Holy Spirit’s presence and power in a believer’s (my) life, by taking them into hard, desolate and dry places in life – otherwise known as the “wilderness”?
  • In the hard places do I know the Word enough to respond with Scripture, a resolve to not be moved by circumstances, and an undeniable reality of the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life to see me through?
  • Is the Holy Spirit so present and powerful in my life, He is enabling freedom, deliverance, vision, and restoration of life to those God has entrusted to my circle of influence?
  • Why is a prophet, or a person regarded as inspired teacher or proclaimer of the will of God, is not accepted in their hometown?
  • Does my faith allow me to believe for salvation and sanctification, but not allow for healing in my body?

Prayer: God You alone have brought me through some really dry, difficult places I would consider the wilderness. When my physical health seemed to be failing, I HAD to look to You for strength, especially when I was tempted to believe I would never have answers. God, YOU did bring me through and out of those places, stronger and more prepared to help others experiencing their own wilderness. I pray now, Your presence DOES help to deliver others, bring freedom and healing spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Thank YOU Lord for ALL You do and all You are to me and others. In Jesus Name, amen.
