Luke 14
Dear Lord, this morning Your Word speaks on religion, humility, willingness to give it ALL to You and giving to others what they are unable to give back. Pride and selfishness seem to be the themes. Lord I pray this morning we allow You to do a work so profound in our lives, pride and selfishness have no room in the depths of our souls. It may be the very essence of our fallen nature, but there are vessels who have given both up, for Your glory and the salvation of others. Father, I pray we would not pass by the ill or broken hearted so easily, but rather reach out our hand to those YOU identify as in need. We may see someone WE believe is in need, and they have no need at all - because they have You and know who they are in You. However, we may see someone thinking "they have it all" and they need You most. Similar to the servants in the parable of the banquet. I went back, again, to Ezekiel 34 this morning. Because the shepherds took care of themselves rather than Your flocks, You were also furious. Furious because many were left unattended and vulnerable. Lord, I pray we as believers recognize those You have entrusted us and we take care of them as You see fit. I pray we do this as a devotion offering to You, seeing our reward is Your delight, there is no need for repayment. We pray these things in Jesus' Name, amen.
