The layout of first reading a chapter, second identifying key points, third asking pressing questions, fourth composing a prayer, and fifth expecting the Lord to answer has become the way I have begun to approach my Bible and prayer time.
I think I like it because I read, I write, and then I speak the Lord's Words. All of which assist in allowing His Word to become part of my very being, from a neurological stand point. I also like writing in a journal, these three sections. It helps me to revisit and note where God answered my prayer or questions. And He hasn't failed me yet!
For me, doing this first thing in the morning is ideal. I desire for the Lord to be the very first One to speak into my life on any given day. Before my thoughts kick in. Before the opinions of those around me are spoken. God has the first Word in my life, and that means so much.
I pray whatever rhythm you settle into, it is fruitful and the Lord meets you there!
