Not everyone will be ready to receive us as being in Christ, and He in us. Not everyone will like us. Not everyone will listen. In fact, people may hate us. Our one commandment holds firm - Love and bear much fruit. Perhaps part of our growth process in Christ will come from any animosity towards us that reveals to us those thoughts and feelings within (anger, bitterness, resentment, etc.) not yet reflecting Christ. Once revealed, we then can then pray He helps us to change in order to better reflect Him.
If we turn away from the Vine because we are concerned about the rejection of others, it is certain we will bear no fruit. If we turn away, we step outside of Love and choose to give up our overflowing joy. We choose to produce our own fruit, fruit that is not everlasting, fruit that is a reflection of us rather than Christ. God has APPOINTED US to go and produce LASTING FRUIT. I pray we lean on the Spirit of truth to empower us to continuously abide in the Vine and live out His calling – every day
