John 10

John 10 - Jesus is speaking of His flock and describing those who will recognize His voice and respond. He also shares His purpose.

Verse 10 says,  “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

This verse also leads back to Ezekiel 34:2-5, where taking care of the weak, tending to the sick, mending the injured, and looking for the wanderers should have been what the leaders were doing, rather than dealing with
them harshly and with cruelty, and taking care of themselves while the "sheep" starved. Because of this, many who are scattered and wandering are susceptible to being prey.
My key takeaway from today’s passage is that God desires to give everyone a rich and satisfying life. However, because many have not been cared for and have been pushed away and rejected by the very ones identified by God to care for them and look out for their well-being, they have wandered far away and are lost, perhaps distant enough to no longer hear His voice. But God WILL GO FIND THEM (see Ezekiel 34:12) and bring them back, feed them, bandage their injuries and strengthen them. Praise God!
