great rebellion. And verse 4 says, “the man of lawlessness will exalt himself and even sit in the temple of God.”
The statement, "because they refuse to love and accept truth that would save them,” arrests my heart. There are souls who will fall for deceptions and be fooled. Why? Because of the sentence above. While I could focus on verses 13-17, and congratulate the church there and maybe even want to pat myself on the back, I go back to the previous verses. People will not LOVE and ACCEPT truth. Are we praying for God's heart to change on this, like Abraham did for the sake of Sodom? (see Gen 18:22-33) Are we asking God to empower us to be a living Testament of His Word, one that REACHES THEIR hearts? Are we praying He has an encounter with others, that will CAUSE THEM to know, believe, love, and accept Truth? Just as we have an eternal comfort and wonderful hope, I'm guessing there are many who would love the same comfort and hope, and they may only ever receive this hope if we do our part on the Lord's behalf to draw them closer. I pray the Lord bless us with the desire and ability to cooperate with the Him through His Holy Spirit in our lives, and extend the same offer of eternal comfort and wonderful hope we possess.
