Week Two Update

I finally have a moment to update the blog! The past couple of weeks have been REALLY good – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. All of which I believe make up who I am, and thus the reason for the blog of this journey to become a whole person and becoming the best version of myself.

Spiritually, I am amazed at the difference it makes when beginning my day with devotions. I have done devotions before, but this time around something is very different. When my alarm goes off at 5am, I am ready to go – ok this morning was
a bit rough and I slept in a wee bit, but I was still excited to get into the Word! I have a devotional book I am working through, but not from beginning to end. I am being led to go through each topic as the Holy Spirit leads. So far the subjects being opened up to me are of New Life, Obedience, and God as Provider. There was a side bar at the very beginning regarding Balance, and I am grateful, because God knows me well enough to know I have a tendency to become unbalanced…real quick!
From a mental standpoint, I am experiencing much more clarity. There seems to be more time in my day, because I don’t seem as frazzled. I focus on one task (this is a challenge for me), and give it my all, then on to the next. Emotionally, I have a growing confidence and peace about me. Things that once negatively affected me, now do not carry as much weight. I have a sense of freedom.

All I can say is wow, when it comes to my physical well-being. I feel so much stronger. Last week working out

four days, and already I have three in for this week. A few of my workouts were on an empty stomach, something I was physically incapable of doing because of sugar and blood pressure dysregulation, off and on for the past couple of years. The Whole 30 challenge is going great, although I am honestly ready to move into Paleo, I will finish the next two weeks out. It is worth it to see the additional benefits I may experience.

Additionally, I notice the “fluffy, puffy” look is gone. I believe this is why I see such a difference in shape when I compare my midway progress pics.

Looking forward, I have set many dates as target dates for the year. The next eleven weeks my goal date is for spring break with the family. Following this phase, I will begin working with my trainer, who will help me get ready for the Spartan races I am signing up for, and the figure competition I have my sites on. After that, we’ll see. In the meantime I am tracking my portions and calorie
consumption through an app. This helps me establish a clear caloric baseline to increase or decrease from, when it comes time to really begin losing fat. It also helps me to see if there are any foods, or certain macro combinations that enable me to feel better throughout the day. It is all one big experiment when it comes to my diet and exercise regimen, right now. But I am having fun and I know I am getting healthier and stronger in the process.

You might see a devotions tab at the top, when time allows. I am also hoping to get back to posting my day in the journal tab. If not, it isn't meant to be right now.

I hope you are well, take care!
