I will be attending a wedding today. In preparation, I have been reflecting on marriage and my own experiences. I have been pondering what it is I would say to the bride, if I had known her a little better. I am meditating on what I have, and will tell my own daughters around marriage – should that be the path God has chosen for their life. Ultimately, I have been mesmerized by words I wish someone had shared with me as a young girl and woman…
Sweetheart, you are beautiful. Your beauty is the only kind ever to have been, and ever will be experienced by this world. God created you perfectly, and in Him you are perfect and complete. Your heart means more to Him than anything on this earth, and that is why He will forever look after you and hold you in the palm of His hand, right near His great big heart.

Dear Beauty, resting in the Lord and being led in this life by His gentle hand is MORE than ENOUGH. Nothing could be added or taken away, that could ever make you “less than”. Having more, being more, traveling more, experiencing MORE – can never replace the peace that comes from resting in His presence. Constantly. Continually.

Precious Lady, there is a groom also being prepared to be your one and only. Specially groomed by the Lord Himself, to meet your very own needs. He will be the one whose heart knows you, only as God knows you, because he will love God more than he loves you, and more than he loves himself. His devotion and heart for God will be how he knows just what you need to hear, when you need to hear it. It will be where his wisdom comes from that carries the two of you through the storms of life. It will be where his gentleness comes from when you find yourself tripping and falling – and he will be the one there to help you get back up, rather than kick you while your down.

My Love, he will desire to cover you in prayer, rather than cover you with diamonds. He will adore your personality and all its quirks, rather than challenge you to change. He will never demand you change what you believe, to make him more comfortable. Never place you in a position that violates your values. The only voice or hand he will raise, will be that of praise and worship for the Lord he knows makes all things possible, and receives the glory for the blessings in your life.

Sweet Child, he will never allow selfish desires and addictions to eat away at your love. With your help he will see temptations for what they are, and give them no room for a foot hold in your life. He will call on God constantly, and trust you are also keeping him in prayer asking for God’s blessing and covering. You see, you too are being prepared just for him. You will also be the only one who will know him better than God, as long as you remain close to the Lord’s heart. You will be there to be his companion, friend, and partner. You will help him get through challenging days and point him back to the grace and love of God when times become so intense, it feels like you can bear no more.

Cherished one, your strength, beauty and purity will be forever valued in your husband’s heart, and in the memory of your soul. Something so sweet, so tender, so very special deserves to be reserved only for the one you know the Lord has chosen for you. The one the Lord has chosen and prepared for you would be willing to wait three billion heart beats to share one special moment with you. He will never rush or be hasty.

Hold on to the Lord. During the most challenging of times. Hold on to Him. Trust Him. And pray to Him, He will never fail you and your heart will forever abound with peace, joy and love – even on those days when it may not feel like it. Sweetheart, you will be forever loved…
